PROCESS DESCRIPTION

At Rexcel the manufacturing process for high pressure laminates generally includes saturating paper rolls with resins, drying them out in a furnace and then pressing several saturated paper sheets in order to obtain a laminate of a given thickness. The final properties obtained in the laminate depend on Resin polymerization or curing.

The process basically includes six stages:

1. Raw materials control. Papers, resins, and additives quality analysis
2. Impregnation. Paper saturation with resins mixtures, drying of impregnated paper and cutting or winding of impregnated material.
3. Assembling. Binding or assembling of several impregnated papers
4. Pressing. Subjecting the assembled material to certain pressure, temperature and time conditions in order to obtain a laminated product.
5. Finish. Refining and sanding the laminated product and cutting it according to commercial measures
6. Finished product control. Quality analysis and inspection
