CARE AND MAINTENANCE*

The decorative surface may be cleaned with warm water and mild soaps, such as those used for hands or dishes. Do not use cleansers which contain abrasives, acids or alkalis; they will damage the decorative surface. Remove stubborn stains with a 1 1/2-minute exposure to hypochlorite bleach such as Clorox®, followed by a clean water rinse.

We recommend that you not allow any of the following reagents to remain in contact with the decorative surface:

  1. Hypochlorite bleach, except as described above
  2. Hydrogen peroxide solution
  3. Mineral acids, hydrochloric acid such as Lime-A-Way, sulfuric or nitric acid
  4. Lye solutions containing 1% or 2% lye, such as Drano®)
  5. Sodium bisulfate, such as Sani-Flush®
  6. Potassium permanganate
  7. Berry juices
  8. Silver nitrate, in 1% concentration
  9. Gentian violet
  10. Mild silver protein, such as 20% argyrol
  11. Bluing
  12. Fabric dye, such as Tintex® or Rit®
  13. Alcohol containing 1% iodine in solution

Routine Care for Rexcel Laminates

bulletWash with mild dishwashing liquid or powdered detergent and water using a soft cloth. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
bulletFor spots you cannot remove by following step above, use an all-purpose cleaner or bathroom cleaner. Follow the manufacturers instructions. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft cloth.
bulletFor very stubborn spots, make a paste with baking soda and water. The paste will be mildly abrasive, so work carefully to keep from scratching the surface you are cleaning. Dip a soft bristle brush in the paste, then gently rub the spot with the brush. Move the brush in a circle pressing lightly. Rinse surface with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Repeat steps above as necessary if the spot seems to be going away.
bulletIf the spot remains, uses undiluted household bleach. Apply to the spot and let it stand NO LONGER THAN1-1/2 MINUTES. Rinse several times with warm water and dry with a soft cloth. If spot seems to be going away, repeat above steps.

Special Tips

Always rinse laminate surfaces after cleaning! Failure to rinse after cleaning is the single greatest cause of damage to laminate surface. If even a small amount of cleaning solution remains on the surface, moisture from cups or dishes can reactivate it and result in permanently etched scars. Always rinse thoroughly with clean water and a clean cloth.

Remember to use a cutting board. Sharp knives can damage the surface of Rexcel Laminate, marring its beauty and lowering wear and stain resistance.

Rexcel Laminate may need occasional dusting depending on where it is used. To keep the surface beautiful, use a non-oily furniture spray. (Remember to clean the spray off several times a year to prevent build up.) Furniture polish can also help hide fine scratches in the surface.
